Top Canva Keywords
Canva is a popular graphic design platform that allows users to create beautiful designs and visuals for various purposes. It offers a vast collection of design elements that are created by professional designers, ranging from graphics, illustrations, photos, icons, and more. However, for new users, the sheer amount of design elements can be overwhelming, making it difficult to find the right ones to use.
To get started, the first step is to type a search term in the Elements section of the Canva interface. This will bring up a list of relevant design elements that match your search query. You can also filter your results using various criteria such as color, type, and size, to help narrow down your search and find exactly what you are looking for.
While searching for elements, it’s important to note that some of them require a Canva Pro subscription, while others are available for free. The Pro subscription unlocks access to premium design elements and features, but if you are just getting started, the free elements should suffice.
However, if you’re not sure what to search for, you can use some helpful keywords to get started. Here are 15 keywords that can help you find the right design elements for your project:
- Glitter
- Doodle
- Abstract
- Hand Drawn
- Gold
- Washi Tape
- Watercolor
- Brushstroke
- Paper
- Quote Decor
- Pattern
- Aesthetic
- Stroke
- Minimal
- Social Media

Canva Brands
Canva has curated artists’ collections (called “brands”) which you can also search for. If you find an element that you love and want to see more similar items from a particular artist, click the “information” button to see the artist’s name.

From here, you can then select to “View more by [artist name] from [artist]” which will filter the resulting elements to show only ones created by that given artist or designer. This is a great way to find elements with similar styles or that match the element you like.
TIP: If you find an artist whose work you love, be sure to add at least one element to your “likes”. This way, you can come back to that artist later.
How do I add to my likes you ask? It’s super easy – just hover over the element and then click on the three dots in the upper right corner. In the drop-down, select “Add To Likes”.

To find your likes when you come back, just select the Starred tab. All of your saved elements or images will be shown.

And here are a few creators (brands) with entire collections of drool worthy elements.
- @beaandbloom
- @sparklestroke
- @anugrahadesign
- Julia Dreams
To find these brands, just search for them by brand name – super simple!
BONUS TIP: Search the same keyword in the Photos section to find even more great elements to use for your design! Keywords like “gold” and “watercolor” have a seriously great selection of images that will make your design pop!
These keywords can help you get started with your search for the perfect design elements. Once you have found what you are looking for, you can easily drag and drop the elements onto your canvas and begin designing. Canva also provides various tools and features to help you customize your designs further, such as resizing, rotating, and adjusting the color and opacity of the elements.
I hope this list helps you create that next viral pin or stunning design even faster. Canva is a seriously amazing tool with tons of beautiful elements hidden inside – you just have to know where to look!
